DATA PRIVACY STATEMENT

GENERAL

The City of Ludwigsburg attaches great importance to the protection of personal data and adheres strictly to all applicable laws and regulations relating to data protection – in particular to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the State Data Protection Act (Landesdatenschutzgesetz, LDSG) and German Telemedia Act (Telemediengesetz, TMG). The following explanations provide an overview of how the City is ensuring this protection and of which data is being used for which purpose.

USE DATA

Every time our website or a file is accessed, general data about this accessing process is automatically stored in a log file. This storage is carried out solely for system-related and statistical purposes (on the basis of point (b) of Art. 6(1) of the GDPR) and, in exceptional cases, for the bringing of charges for criminal offences (on the basis of point (e) of Art. 6(1) of the GDPR). Data is not passed on to third parties or evaluated in any other way unless there is a statutory obligation to do so (point (e) of Art. 6(1) of the GDPR).

In particular, the following set of data is stored for every accessing procedure:

  • Name of the accessed file
  • Date and time of accessing
  • Amount of data transmitted
  • Report of whether the accessing was successful
  • Description of type of web browser used
  • Operating system used
  • Page visited previously
  • Provider
  • IP address of the user (is not used to identify the user)

PERSONAL DATA

Personal data is processed by us only when this is legally permitted or if you have granted us your consent.

Contact
If you enter into contact with us, we store your data on the basis of point (b) of Art. 6(1) of the GDPR for the purpose of processing your query and also in case further correspondence should take place.

USE OF THE “MATOMO” ANALYSIS TOOL (PREVIOUSLY KNOWN AS “PIWIK”)

Our website uses Matomo, which is open-source software for the analysis of user access to our website. Matomo uses so-called cookies, which are text files that are saved on your computers and allow us to analyse your use of the website. The information created by the cookie about your use of this website is stored on our servers in Germany and is not passed on to third parties. Your IP address is anonymised immediately after processing and before it is stored.

CLICK HERE IF YOU DO NOT WANT YOUR VISIT TO BE TRACKED ANYMORE.

https://matomo.org/

You can prevent cookies being installed by setting your browser accordingly; however, we wish to point out that if this is the case, you will not be able to use all functions on our website in full.

You can also object to the use of your data by Matomo by making use of the procedure described below: a cookie will be stored in your browser that contains only the information that no data whatsoever may be collected by Matomo about you. Any cookies previously set are then deleted. However, if you should delete all cookies in your browser at any time, you will have to object to the use of your data again. You can decide here whether an unambiguous web analysis cookie may be placed in your browser to allow us to record and analyse various items of statistical data. If you wish to decide against this, you can place the Matomo deactivation cookie in your browser by clicking the following link.

We base our use of the above-named analysis tool on point (f) of Art. 6(1) of the GDPR: processing is carried out to analyse user behaviour and is thus necessary for the fulfilment of our legitimate interests.

USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA PLUGINS FROM FACEBOOK AND VIMEO

The protection of your personal data is very important to us. For this reason, we do not directly implement the various social plugins. Instead, we just include links to these social networks. The relevant social plugins are only activated when you follow these links. Please note that data is only transmitted when you activate the relevant social plugins by clicking the corresponding link. Merely visiting our website does not trigger any data transmission.

If you activate data transmission by clicking the corresponding link, the following data transmission occurs:

Facebook
Plugins for the Facebook social network (Facebook Inc., 1601 Willow Road, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA) are then integrated into our website. Facebook plugins can be recognised by the presence of the Facebook logo or the “Like” (“Gefällt mir”) button on our website. An overview of Facebook plugins can be found here:
https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/?locale=en_US.

A direct connection between your browser and the Facebook server is established using the plugin. Facebook is informed in this way that you have visited our website with your IP address. If you click the Facebook “Like” button while you are logged into your Facebook account, you can link the contents of our platform to your Facebook account. As a result, Facebook can associate your visit to our website with your account.

As the operator of this website, we would like to point out that we have no knowledge of the content of the transmitted data or of its use by Facebook. Further information about this can be found in Facebook’s Data Policy at
https://www.facebook.com/policy.php.

If you do not want Facebook to be able to associate your visit to our website with your Facebook account, please log out of your Facebook account or else do not activate the social plugins.

Use of plugins from Vimeo
We use plugins from Vimeo to embed videos on our website. Vimeo is operated by Vimeo LLC, 555 West 18th Street, New York, New York 10011, USA.

If you access a website with the Vimeo plugin, a connection to Vimeo’s servers is established. Information about the website you have visited is then transmitted to Vimeo’s server. If you are logged in as a member of Vimeo at this time, Vimeo associates this information with your personal user account. If you use the plugin to play a video by clicking the Play button, for example, this information is also associated with your user account. You can prevent this information being associated with your user account by logging out of your Vimeo user account before using our website and by deleting the relevant cookies from Vimeo.

Further information on data processing and on data protection by Vimeo can be found at
HTTPS://VIMEO.COM/PRIVACY.

We base our use of Vimeo on point (a) of Art. 6(1) of the GDPR. If you activate the plugin while you are logged into Vimeo, you are granting us your consent to data processing. In any case, data processing in accordance with point (f) of Art. 6(1) of the GDPR is permitted; if you activate a plugin while you are logged into the relevant social network, data processing for advertising purposes takes place and is in our legitimate interest as a result.
Information in German on the safe use of social networks can be found on the website of the German Federal Office for Information Security (Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik, BSI)

Information about what pages you have visited on our website is then transmitted to the Google server. Your IP address is also stored by Google.
